Watermelons in Greenstalk

I had the need to plant something, you probably know how it is … so I decided to experiment and grow watermelons in containers.

I picked the “Sugar Baby” variety, since it is a small and more compacted watermelon plant, and it’s also very cute. Small in size, yield 10 to 15 pounds watermelons, sweet and with red flesh. It is also an early one, at about 80 days.

I just cleaned my GreenStalk of all of the spring crops I had growing in there and is ready for something new. Since I don’t have a large space to plant, and the vine is said to be not too long, I will plant them at the top. Other than a few violas and orange hat tomatoes I have growing in there, I will plant most of the pockets with watermelons.

To plant them, I will just add a little compost in each pocket and drop the seeds there. That should be it… ah! water! 😉

I will update this post along the season. Let’s see if we can grow watermelon in the GreenStalk.
